A: There are a few ways to answer this.  Let me know if I’m on track.

Both.  When I first started out selling on eBay – I certainly would consign.  Meaning I would bring my items to a consignment shop and wait for them to sell and receive 50% of what they made on them.  Now all consignment shops are different – some will pay up front.  I’m just not in an area that would have that type of shop.  You have to sell a lot of clothes to make it worth it.

On another note – as well as doing that I would also consign for other people on eBay.

I had a brochure that had pricing information and commission structures.  As I got more involved in selling for other people and learned what sells well, and what doesn’t my guidelines were tweaked and commissions changed.

Later, I decided that the commission structure would not be worth the effort and decided that buying the clients items outright was more the way to go.

I again tweaked my brochure to show purchase price per item.  For example, complete sets $1 – high end designer/boutique brands $5 per set, Maternity $2/piece etc..

Hey, you get a client with a bag full of clothes – you’re both making money!

For more than one reason:

1. The client gets paid up front (they are happy, I’m happy)
2. No waiting for non paying bidders
3. No upsetting clients waiting for money
4. No telling a client their items won’t sell
5. Some clients have very high expectations – when it’s just no possible
6. The items become mine to list when and for how much I felt they were worth.

It’s such a great way to build your inventory with little out of pocket.  I did this for many years until I just was overwhelmed with a lot of items.  Plus my own items I needed to sell.  It wasn’t that long ago I decided to stop this service so I could catch up and get organized.  I still haven’t started back up again, but I am completely caught up on listing and have a clean organized space again!

A:  Great question(s)!!!  I use 2 camera’s and I haven’t had a problem with either.  My first camera is a Nikon digital camera.  I’ll take the pictures then download them to my computer and then upload and store them on photobucket.  You can edit photos directly on photobucket so there is no need to post pictures to Word or worry about Microsoft Office.

The other camera I use is on my cell phone!  Love technology!!  When I’m on the go or sometimes is just plain faster to use my cell phone.  I take the pictures and have it set to automatically transfer to photobucket.  It saves the step of hooking up the camera to my computer and downloading everything then uploading to photobucket.  I then edit photos from photobucket.
