Many people who are looking for ways to make money from home become eBay sellers. In fact, eBay is one of the first places people turn to when wanting to work from home or make money from their home. The only issue is that to make money on eBay, you must sell successfully. There are several things you can do to make yourself a successful eBay seller. One of those is to create an “About Me” page.
If you are still new to eBay you may not be familiar with the “About Me” page. An “About Me” page is a webpage that allows you to write anything about yourself that you want to share on eBay. You can write an introduction for yourself, talk about the type of items you sell, or the type of services that you offer. Since there is always a possibility of being scammed on eBay, many eBay buyers are wanting to do business with someone they feel they can trust. One of the easiest and best ways to help create this trust, is by creating an “about Me” page. It may seem rather simple to you, but to those many eBay buyers is actually means a lot. Remember, to sell successfully on eBay, public perception is everything.
As I said before, if you are wanting to create an “About Me” page, there is a section where you can write anything you want. To be a successful eBay seller, you will want to provide information that you feel could be useful to potential buyers. For example, if you have become an eBay seller because you are a stay-at-home mom or dad, then you may want to state that in a professional manner. By explaining your purpose for being an eBay seller you are letting eBay buyers see that you are a person just like them.
Do you consider yourself a full-time eBay seller or do you specialize in a certain type of product, like children’s clothing? You may want to mention that in your personal “About Me” section. You will also want to include anything else you feel is useful for buyers to know or anything that you think will grab the attention of and help you gain the trust of potential buyers. Be sure to use your best judgment when creating your “About Me” page. Look at it from the perspective of an eBay buyer, what would you like to see in the “About Me”?
eBay automatically includes some other information on your “About Me” page. One of those is a summary the current items you have for sale. For example if you have several auctions currently listed, there will be a summary of all those auctions on your “About Me” page. Visitors are provided a link to the auction page, the current highest bid, as well as a short description of what is currently for sale by you. Because of this, having an “About Me” page could potentially increase your chances of getting a sale, since visitors to your page may see something that they are interested in.
The eBay “About Me” page also usually includes information on your feedback. As an established eBay seller, especially if you have a good feedback rating, this may be to your advantage. Visitors will be able to see that you are a reputable eBay seller. If you have several eBay feedback ratings, then only a select number, most likely the recent ones, will be shown. This includes your positive, negative, and neutral feedback ratings from past eBay transactions.
Creating and having an “About Me” page on eBay is entirely up to you. As you can see there are several benefits to having one. Since creating an “About Me” page on eBay takes only a few minutes, I suggest you at least give it a try. You may be surprised with the results you may see.
