Tough Question Tuesday – Measure or Don’t Measure?

 blog_tqt

Q:  I have so many clothing items to list, I don’t know if it’s worth my time to put the measurements.  Do you think it’s important?

A:  Oh, the dreaded measurement question!  LOL!! ;-)   I know it’s only an extra step – BUT – it’s so important!  If you take the time to list your items, at least take the time to include the measurements so your listing is not just like every other item out there.  People are busy, and if you don’t have what they’re looking for – they will click away.  Also, when you include the measurements in your listing, it eliminates time you’ll have to spend later digging your item out when a buyer asks!  Here is a small list you can include in your description, feel free to use it:

Brand:
Size:
Color:
Condition:
Bust: (womens clothing)
Chest: (mens clothing)
Shoulder:
Waist:
Hips:
Sleeve Length: (important on petite items)
Length: (important for jackets, skirts & dresses)
Inseam: (important for pants)

Enjoy!  :-)

  1. I would add rise to your list of recommended measurements for pants. Especially jeans. Also, explaining that they are GARMENT measurements, not BODY measurements is helpful. I suggest people take an item of clothing that fits well and compare the measurements to determine fit.

I also note the type of material and care instructions. A lot of people prefer not to purchase dry clean only items, and some are allergic to certain types of fabric. Including these two items helps customers make an informed decision when purchasing, which reduces potential problems later with returns/bad feedback.

So true, thank you for adding those. You’re right – with the way pants are cut now adays, you really need the rise!
