Niche Market Finder 1.0

eBay has launched a cool new page called Niche Market Finder 1.0. This new page can help you find items that have the possibility of bringing in big bucks. Niche Finder will help identify those lesser known items that sell very well, but there are not a lot of. By identifying niche items you can find money making opportunities as a seller or as a buyer just find interesting products.

But first, what is a niche?
A niche (as defined by eBay) is a group of items with the following characteristics:
• A set of representative keywords- you can use them as a query to see niche items in the corresponding category
• The maximum, average, or median selling prices for the period
• An estimate of the number of distinct users who issued queries on the niche items
• The number of available listings for the period
• The number and percent items sold (conversion ratio)

Continuing Your eBiz Success Through the Summer

Hope you had a great Memorial Day!  This day marks the beginning of Summer for most.

For me – with eBay on my mind 24/7, I’m already thinking of what to sell next season. From my experience specializing in clothing – I HAVE to know the latest trends, and keep up with what retailers are promoting on their racks.

Summer is an ideal time to shop for any off season clearance items and start getting ready for the back to school sales!  If you sell clothing on eBay, Summer is generally slow.  So, I find it the perfect time to catch up on how I want to improve my business over the next year.

Of course with two young children it can be a challenge to make time for everything.  One thing that I always strive to keep in mind – working from home is always warrants me the ability to work on my own terms!  I love being my own boss!

I stick to a very strict schedule, being sure to allow extra time for any unexpected interruptions, and there are unexpected interruptions.  I also find it important to set aside time for myself and my family, so I don’t feel too overwhelmed.  I always feel refreshed and ready to go when I make sure my time is wisely planned.

Remember, when mommy is happy – everyone is happy!  :-)  Have a productive Summer!

Important Update – USPS Ban

Starting on Wednesday, May 16 2012, U.S. sellers will no longer be allowed to ship lithium batteries, or any items that contain the batteries, with the U.S. Postal Service to other locations outside the U.S. You can still mail lithium batteries and products that contain them outside the U.S. via FedEx, UPS, DHL and other mailing services.

eBay iPhone App

Did you know that eBay has an iPhone App?

Actually they have a few apps, but today I am going to tell you a little about eBay for iPhone.  It’s great for sellers, you can quickly look up items and determine their value.  When you find an item at a consignment shop, or garage sale you could evaluate the possible income that could be made from it.  You can also use it with the iPhone’s barcode scanner to list new items quickly.  You can also use the barcode scanner to look up listing prices.

Buyers can use the eBay app to help them get that last minute bid in, and keep a close watch on those great eBay finds.  The app also allows access to My eBay and advanced search functions.

Recent updates to the eBay app will make selling easier.
The most recent updates to the eBay Mobile app for iPhone include some great seller enhancements! The updates now allow you to:

  • Show your vacation settings to buyers
  • In the shipping section you can select countries to exclude
  • Get extra support for calculated shipping

eBay’s Marketing Campaigns – a heads up to help you make more.

Moms: Mother’s Day is the 4th largest retail holiday of the year. From now until May 13, eBay will be helping to drive the seasonal shoppers to listings in  Jewelry, Fashion, Fragrances, Home & Garden, and Electronics. Be sure to list your inventory in these categories to make the most of this huge retail rush.
