Tough Question Tuesday – Shipping World Wide on eBay – Is it Worth it?

blog_tqt

Q: I’d like to expand my shipping services to include not only Canada, but also World Wide. Is it worth it?

A: Absolutely! I love to ship world wide, it’s been nothing but a great experience for me. There are a lot of brick and mortar locations that simply will not ship international. A lot of international buyers will turn to eBay searching for sellers who will. I recently sold to a buyer in Turkey.

It will only broaden your exposure on eBay and increase your sales. Plus, by selling items out of your store only means that people will buy what is considered ‘off season’ for us – but IN season to them. Be sure to check out www.usps.com for details and information on shipping packages worldwide.

Good luck! :-)

I Love Back To School Shopping on eBay!!

Tell me, what do you love the most about Back To School Shopping on eBay???

Is it, earning eBay Bucks?

Is it, shopping for all of your favorite brands in one place?

Is it, utilizing the Want It Now feature to let the eBay seller do the work for you?

OH, one of my favorite things to do is shop for this season AND next season.

Let me know, I’d love to hear from you. ;-)

What Is Your Favorite Home Office Item?

I have several, actually – but my MOST favorite items since the baby has been born is my lap desk!  I take my lap top in one arm, baby on hip and make ourselves comfortable for play on the floor, bed – where ever!

I’m on the computer a lot doing eBay research, so it’s important that I can be ‘plugged’ in at a moments notice.

It’s even great when I’m not feeling well and just don’t have the energy to get out of bed!  Well, with a baby and a six year old I’m affraid my bed ridden days have been long gone…but one can hope! LOL  :-)

Have a peek, it’s worth it! Traveler Lap Desk

Are You Listing Halloween Items To eBay??

You should be!

Halloween sales are on the rise and you should already be prepared before it’s too late!  I’ll be sharing some of my listings over at my ebay blog.  I don’t have too many new items this year.  I’m hoping that a lot of my daughters dress up/old costumes are too small and can easily part with them.  Dress up lots do great on eBay and you can easily find them at yard sales, consignment shops and Good Will locations.

Anything that I sell out of her ‘stuff’ goes right back to spoiling my girls!  It’s usually fun getting her motivated to help me clean out the toy box so she can see how much we can make to buy her a new toy – she really wants an American Girl doll this year.  ;-)

Good luck on your Halloween sales!

Beware of eBay and Paypal Spoof Email

UGH!  I’ve gotten at least four Spoof email yesterday alone.  Please be very careful!

You definintely do not want to click on any links or enter ANY of your information.  Forward the entire email to eBay or Paypal – depending on who it came from.  Their email is as follows:

spoof@ebay.com and spoof@paypal.com

Here are some of the subject lines in the email that I received:

Your Account Has Been Flagged! – Paypal spoof for sure.  If you know you’ve done nothing wrong, your account won’t get flagged.

06/08/2009 eBay System Update: Information Request – eBay spoof

**PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT EMAIL REGARDING YOUR LISTING(S)** – eBay spoof

These spoofs always come out heavier around the summer time and again around the holidays so please be very careful.  Send it to the proper spoof email right away and someone from eBay/paypal will respond to you within a day or two.

Happy Selling!  :-)

Tell Me Thursday – Julie’s Basement Deals

So, I’m trying something a little different.  I would love to hear about YOU!  I opened it up to the Boutique Bargains members to share thier experiences and answer a few questions.  They’ve agreed to share on the BB Blog!  Enjoy!

Our post this week is about Julie’s Basement Deals

Tell us a little about you and your family. How many kids do you have and what are their ages?

I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, and currently live in Columbus, Ohio with my husband and two daughters. I went to The Ohio State University and received a degree in Occupational Therapy. After taking a year off, I am back to work as a “substitute” therapist at a skilled nursing facility here in town. I have two daughters, ages 5 1/2 and 3. My husband owns a screen printing company and recently started working as a sales manager for a major musical instrument manufacturer. We will eventually move to Jacksonville, Florida which is where his company is located.

What is your eBay ID or Store Name? Any story behind how you came up with your eBay name?

My eBay ID is “osuot” which stands for “Ohio State University Occupational Therapist.” My store name is “Julie’s Basement Deals” because after my second daughter was born, my computer desk was moved to our basement,

When did you first start to build a business around eBay or is it a hobby for you?

I have every intention to build a business around eBay, but it is currently just a hobby for me. I love reading posts from the various blogs/groups I have joined, and hope to use all of my new knowledge sometime in the future!

Who has been an inspiration to you to continue selling on eBay?

I am motivated by several friends I know that sell on eBay. Nothing like a little competition to inspire you!!!

What sort of person do you think would be a good fit for eBay?

Must be organized and self-directed. Also need to have some type of motivation to keep up with the postings!

What first three steps would you recommend someone take to dig deeper into eBay?

1) look into 3rd party web-hosting sites for templates and picture hosting
2) subscribe to blogs
3) stay consistent with your listings/postings…it’s hard to get re-motivated after not listing for a while!

 Thanks, Julie!!  :-)

Tweet Me Tuesday! Weird Twitter Dream….

So, I’m a Twitter addict….

I had a dream the other night – Maybe it’s just lack of sleep with a baby up for 3 am feedings.

Come share with me…

In the background was the ever familiar chirp of Tweetdeck alerting me of new tweets, mentions, direct messages…etc.

I was walking into a building, no clue what I was doing there or how it’s relevant to my life.  I sit down at a desk – those nice school type desks with the storage under the seat and the lift up desk so you can put your books inside – the books that you eventually forget about during class and wind up leaving without them, only to find yourself in a sea of embarrassment to go back and get them – of course being late to your next class…more embarrassment, and a potential detention..ANYWAY, never happened to me.

Back to the dream..I sit down at the desk and the Tweetdeck chirps are getting LOUDER and closer together!  Man, I think, it’s  hoppin on twitter tonight!

Suddenly, I realize – I’m not the only one here!  My twitter friends!!  They are here as well – but not as actual physical people.  I see their profile pictures and they’re stuck to those wooden Popsicle sticks!  You know those sticks that you used to save and make bird houses out of in summer camp? Man, how many of those did you eat to make one stinkin bird house that really wasn’t all that impressive to your parents and they’re probably thinking – humph money well spent there. ANYWAY, I never went to summer camp..

Can you imagine all of your twitter followers sitting around you in a classroom with their profile picture on little square pieces of paper on a popsicle stick?

Why?  Why did I have that dream?  I don’t get it! Weird…

If you like to tweet, especially regarding anything eBay give me a chirp – @Jennwahm and tell me what you like to sell on eBay.  Tweet Ya Later!
