The Hot Seminar Series continues tomorrow!  I’m still busy answering your questions as fast as I can.  I really enjoy talking to others about how to improve their eBay business.  Here is a couple questions that I wanted to share.

Q:   I found Seller Source Book for auction templates. Is there a site that you recommend ?

A:  I think Seller Source Book is a great start, they have thousands of templates, and you aren’t required to be a technical expert.  It’s compatible with eBay and other auction sites.  My personal opinion is, if you are comfortable with Seller Source Book, than stick with it.  It will make your life a lot easier.

When you are more advanced and ready to brand yourself with your own look, then get a personalized custom made template that you can store in Turbo Lister to use over and over again.

Q:  Do you have any suggestions about doing an Ebay store ?

A: I love my eBay store.  I suggest to keep it stocked with all seasons, all the time and don’t limit your shipping to one particular country - ship world wide. This will enable sales all year, especially since different countries are opposite seasons.

Happy Selling!  :-)

Boutique Bargains & Beyond {Blog} Tips to Help Build Your Mailing List on eBay

Posted on June 25th, 2009 by Jenn

If you’ve been selling on eBay for any amount of time chances are you’ve heard of so many people focusing on getting to the top of search engines when they could be spending that time working on building their email list.  Building your list is actually more beneficial than being at the top of the search engines! Google can drop you faster than a blink of the eye but a list can “Google proof” your eBay income.

Building a list can be challenging but with these tips you will be on your way to building an incredible list.

  • Build a relationship first. Your main objective should not be money but building a relationship with your buyer. Don’t send email after email that just offers your product or service. Yes putting your product and services in front of your subscribers eyes is key to making money. However, they are more than likely signed up for your list expecting to get something out of it not just sales pitch after sales pitch.  You may find that sending sales pitch after sales pitch only leads to unsubscriber after unsubscriber. So focus on relationship building first and the monetary aspect later.

  •  Be consistent. Consistency is key! I must say this a million times a year when I send out helpful tips through alert emails.  Have you ever signed up for a list only to end up forgetting you even signed up for it because the emails were so far and few in between? Not only does it cause list subscribers to forget they signed up but it causes the potential for loss of income and then if you decide to start the list back up later it’s going to be tougher to get those subscribers to open those emails! So when you start that list make sure you are consistent! Stay in touch, even if it’s to wish them a Happy Mothers Day, Fathers Day - you get the idea.  ;-)

Those are just a few tips - but you can find a bunch more on Sparkplugging.com this week.  The topic of Spark An Idea Thursday is Email.  There’s a lot of great ideas that you can apply to your own strategies.

Or, I invite you to check out the 101 Smart and Easy Mailing List Strategies guide. If you want to start a mailing list or already have a mailing list, pick up your copy for easy to follow tips that will help you build a strong business foundation – your list!

Boutique Bargains & Beyond {Blog} Be A Great Mama This Summer!

Posted on June 17th, 2009 by Jenn

It’s summer time!  My oldest is out of school and I’m really looking forward to spending time with my girls as much as possible this summer.  I have a 6 year old and a 3 month old!  Keeping them both occupied will be a challenge this year because of their age difference.

I’ll be working on eBay and Boutique Bargains email Alerts when they are fast asleep at night.  That will enable me to spend the entire day with them having my undivided attention. Another beauty of eBay - you can work when you want!

I found the Be A Great Mama guide a very helpful tool.  Be A Great Mama is a packed 29 page guide with advice and creative ideas for being the best mom you can be.  I wanted to pass it along, so we can all be the very best we can be for our kids.

It’s totally f-r-e-e and includes real life stories from moms just like you and me.  Hope you like it!

Boutique Bargains & Beyond {Blog} Tough Question Tuesday: Does It Make A Difference?

Posted on June 16th, 2009 by Jenn

blog_tqt

I had a blast at the Hot Seminar Series last week!  It’s taken me just about one week to come down off of cloud 9.  :-)

I really enjoy talking to others about how to improve their eBay business.   A couple questions came trickling in after the show was over.  I thought it would be nice to answer them here.

Q:  I listened to you on a conference call tonight. Great call. I have a question. I get your emails, 2 or 3 a day on clothes mostly, but I don’t know which to buy and if size makes a difference. I don’t have the funds to buy one of every size or something from every site you send out. I only want to resell them. Do you list them before you get them or after?

Thanks again,
Bill B.

A:  Usually, size will not make a difference.  It’s personal preference.  Some eBay sellers specialize in small sizes, some eBay sellers only buy bigger sizes.  Buy what is best for your budget.  Buying a couple sizes - like a size 3 and 4, for example.  That way you can cross promote them.  One example would be to state in your description that you have sibling sizes available - then link to the other item.

I list after I get the item.  That way I can take pictures of close up details, and if measurements are needed, I can put them in my description while the item is in front of me.

Hope that helps!

Boutique Bargains & Beyond {Blog} What To Sell On eBay In June

Posted on June 12th, 2009 by Jenn

So, it’s about half way through the month already!!

What have you been listing to earn some extra cash?

It’s June - traditionally the month when kids are out of school and you’re ready to take a break from eBay for a while.

You’ll want to get any 4th of July clothing out the door ASAP!  I just sold my last Gymboree Star Spangled set out of my store. Now, I’ll be on the hunt for clearance sales to send out email alerts to ya’ll who are subscribed ;-).

Retail stores are already marking down their summer merchandise - and if the trends hold steady - we will see a major push in steep discounts perfect for stocking up on inventory.  Back to school sales will start as early as July.  Those that have school all year, are scouting out eBay to be ahead of the crowd.  So be ready!!

Enjoy your weekend! :-)
